Materials Characterization

Materials characterization is a blanket term covering the various processes employed in analyzing the properties and composition of various substances.

This may include Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) to examine morphology and microstructure, Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS) to quantify elemental composition, or Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) to map grain boundaries, orientations, and phase distribution within a material.

These techniques contribute to a comprehensive understanding of a material’s physical and chemical characteristics, facilitating research, quality control, and problem-solving in various scientific and industrial fields.
